It seems that everyone is arguing that whether the educational system in China needs reform or not. And I guess the answer is quite clear: this system is not flawless. It kills creativity of students. However, we also admit that change could not happen over night, what we can do to prevent things go from bad to

worse is another big issue here.
The first thing we are going to talk about is what makes the Chinese educational system unsatiactory? That would be a long list, but the huge amount of population must be on the top of that list. Things that would be done easily in Western would be much harder to be getting done in a country with more that 1.3 billion people. Furthermore, the unbalanced economic structure is another big barrier. In general, the eastern China is better being than that of the middle and western China. But the gap between and within each city is rather obvious. It is not surprising to hear that the erage income of Shanghai ten times that of any all city of Western China. Theses two reasons lead to the inequality on the distribution of educational resource. The competition begins even before the children go to schools. Those child with talents or parents with deep pocket he access to those excellent schools. A news on the paper said parents paid more than over $ 40000 to get their child into a top primary school in Beijing. In order to go to better high schools, battle started from primary schools. Students are given loaded homework. Parents take them to after school classes on weekends. All the leisure time are occupied.
In this respect, examination is just the easiest way to tell the “good” from the “bad”. Abolish examination would not do any good to the whole system.
So at this point, what could we do? Since the entire educational system is hard to change, maybe we could try another way. Before the standardized schooling structure has been built up, it is a privilege for the rich and royal families to send their children to school. Parents especially the father took the responsibility to educate their children. There was an old saying goes like: it is father’s fault just raise his children without educating them. Parents play an important role in educates their children. They just like teachers at home. And their behiours he a great impact on how their children behe in schools. Judge by the time children spend with, parents outweigh teachers. They set daily example for childrenand he a great influence on the building of their moral values. Like what I he mentioned earlier in China, even if teachers do not give much homework to students, parents will. They push their children forward. They give their children too much pressure. Since we could not change the system instantly, why do not we ourselves make a change? What if we give the free time back to our children and let them he fun. Not everyone is teacher or principal, but almost all of us is or will be parents. If we could make this all step, things might be different.
The educational system goes with the whole social system, it is hard to make a change without changing the bigger environment, but we could not take this as an excuse. Every little change starts from the change of people. As long as we make that first step, nothing is going to stop us from making the bigger reform.
